Throughout a long and storied career, Jack Greenberg has played a frontline role in some of the most important social justice struggles of our time.

On January 24, 2014, Columbia Law School will host "Crusading for Justice:  A Symposium Honoring Jack Greenberg's Contributions to Civil and Human Rights Law and Lawyering," a day-long symposium in recognition of Greenberg’s contributions to civil rights and human rights advocacy, activism, teaching, and scholarship, both in the U.S. and around the world. A roundtable of current and former legal directors from the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and public interest law firms modeled on the LDF will offer perspectives on Greenberg’s impact on the U.S. civil rights bar, and on the movement of which it was a part. A second panel of distinguished advocates, scholars, and activists will focus on Greenberg’s international contributions, including his most recent work in the field of international human rights on behalf of the Roma.
