RECRUITING 1LS FOR SUMMER 2009
There are two options to recruit a 1L for a summer internship or summer associate position.
1L On-Campus Interview ("1L OCI") Program takes place from mid-January to mid-February on-campus. To register, contact Meghan Keenan at meghan.keenan@law.columbia.edu or 212-854-7383.
Resume Collections. If your organization is interested in doing a resume collection, you can submit the posting anytime. However, it will not go live to the students until August 3rd.
The Early Interview Program ("EIP") August 12-13 & 17-18, 2009. EIP, the largest of Columbia's five annual recruitment programs, takes place at a hotel in midtown Manhattan where employers interview 2Ls and 3Ls for summer associate and postgraduate positions. Students bid on firms they wish to interview with, and the interview schedules are coordinated by the Career Services Office with the help of a computer program that schedules the highest of such bids until the employer's schedule is filled. Prescreening is not permitted, although employers may specify certain criteria such as technical degree(s), or particular language(s). Employers receive all interested students' resumes (including those who could not be scheduled) a few days prior to the interview date. The Office makes every possible effort to accommodate employers' requests for specific dates and other special requests, especially when requiring coordination with other law schools' on-campus programs. Private and public sector employers seeking associates and interns, for summer and/or postgraduate openings, find Columbia's on-campus interviewing efficient and cost effective. All employers (including law firms) with fewer than 20 attorneys, and public sector employers of any size, may participate free of administrative fees. Participation in these and other Columbia programs is arranged by Columbia for employers annually beginning in late January.
The Fall Interview Program- September 21-October 16, 2009. Private and public sector employers interviewing 2nd and 3rd year students are afforded another opportunity to interview job applicants for summer associate and postgraduate positions. This program is held on campus. Schedules and arrangements, as detailed in the above EIP section, apply. Space availability and other criteria govern the location and date of the specific interview arrangements.
Resume Collections. If your organization is interested in doing a resume collection, you can submit the posting anytime. However, it will not go live to the students until August 3rd.

THE OVERSEAS-TRAINED LL.M. STUDENT INTERVIEW PROGRAM
Columbia, in cooperation with Harvard, Stanford, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, University of Virginia, and Yale, has initiated an Annual Overseas-Trained LL.M. Student Interview Program. Employers from around the world are invited to come to the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel in late January to interview students from the seven law schools for foreign associates and/or six to eighteen month internship positions. More than 170 Columbia international students from more than 50 countries will be studying for their LL.M. degree this year. This seven school program included more than 300 of the nation's most highly selected LL.M. candidates as well as over 180 legal employers from around the world. For further information or registration please contact Career Services at (212) 854-2700.
LL.M. Resume Book: To facilitate internships and hiring of international LL.M. students, Columbia publishes a resume book of those enrolled in our LL.M. program each fall. The resume book will assist with identifying LL.M.s with prior U.S. or overseas training, who are seeking an opportunity upon graduation.
ADDITIONAL INTERVIEW PROGRAMS
Columbia has in the past offered interview programs in several cities, usually in conjunction with other schools. Such programs are not offered every year and they are dependent upon student interest.
Columbia Law School students also regularly participate in the New York City Bar Association's Bar Fellows Intern Program, Northeast BLSA Job Fair, the International Student Program, the Public Interest Symposium, the NAPIL Public Interest Job Fair, the Delaware Minority Job Fair, and the Chicago Intellectual Property Job Fair.
